Darren Daulton Responsive After Brain Tumor Surgery

Former Phillie Darron Daulton is awake and talking following a seven-hour procedure on Monday to remove two glioma brain tumors discovered last week. Initial reports said that one of the tumors was inoperable, but Dr. Kevin Judy managed to remove both, saying that one tumor was simply in a “less eloquent” part of the former Phillies catcher’s brain. Daulton, meanwhile, stayed awake for the operation so doctors could monitor his language functions. He will undergo speech therapy and radiation treatments post-op, and doctors expect to release him later this week. [ABC]
