A Horse Named Paterno Is Restoring JoePa’s Legacy, One Race at a Time

Paterno is dead. Long Live Paterno. A three-year-old horse, ahem, saddled with the name “Paterno,” has won its first ever race, at the Parx racetrack in Bensalem. Finally, a victory for Paterno, after a 15 year drought.

According to the race chart, the former Nittany Lion leader’s four-legged namesake took the lead about halfway through and lasted, winning by a head over Sneaky Devil.

Can the Paterno name ever recover from the scandal that rocked a nation? One innocent, clueless horse says yes. [Patriot-News]
