Philly Only SLIGHTLY Better Place Than Detroit for Small Businesses

Of the 30 largest cities in the United States, according to a recent study, Philadelphia’s small business “climate” is the fourth-worst.* More pathetic than us: San Diego, which has a vibrant illegal drug trade, Detroit, whose “ruin porn” industry is booming, and Sacramento, which has just retained its basketball team. So they’ve got that going for them.

What do we have going for us? Says credit card company Card Hub, which conducted the study, our work ethic is also the fourth-worst in the country, suggesting that maybe we control our own destiny. Which would be better than being stuck in some hopeless decades-long post-industrial mire…
