It’s Official: Marjorie Margolies Running for Congress Again!

Nearly 20 years after being ousted from Congress, 70-year-old Marjorie Margolies Mezvinsky (formerly) is gunning for her old seat again. Since getting ousted in 1994 after a legendarily risky vote for Bill Clinton’s economic plan (“Bye-bye Margie,” Republicans chanted after the vote), she’s attempted a couple comebacks, gotten divorced, gone bankrupt, and seen her son marry Chelsea Clinton.

Now that Allyson Schwartz has vacated her seat in Congress to run for governor, M^32 wants in again. The race for the 13th district, which covers Montgomery County and Northeast Philly, has already attracted a spate of legitimate challengers. So while the district is more liberal than it was in the 90s, it won’t be an easy Democratic primary for her to win. [Newsworks]
