Bear Tranquilized After Being Found in a Delran Tree
A 364-pound black bear was found in a tree in Delran today. It’s believed to be the same one seen roaming around Bucks County recently, meaning the intrepid beast likely crossed the Delaware. Here’s how they got him down.
Kim Tinnes of the state Division of Fish and Wildlife hit the bear in the butt with two tranquilizer darts about 9 a.m. A half-hour later, the drowsy bruin fell face first into a net set up under the tree as a crowd that had gathered gasped collectively.
The bear will now be re-located to Brendan Byrne State Forest, in Burlington County. But there’s no guarantee he won’t come back round these parts. “If they get that wanderlust, we can’t stop them,” said Tinnes.
