Penn’s Newly Admitted Class of 2017: The Stats


For high school seniors, this week–college decision week–is among the most stressful they’ll ever face. So for all you applicants disappointed about not getting into Penn, remember, there are 27,500 others just like you that were rejected. This year, Penn admitted a smaller percentage of total students than ever before, with an acceptance rate of 12.1% (and 9.4% for regular decision applicants).

Other stats on the class of 2017:

  • 3,785 accepted
  • 43% self-reported minorities
  • 52% female
  • 2180 average SAT score
  • 2,800 waitlisted
  • 15.2%: Cornell’s acceptance rate, the only one higher in the Ivy League
