Grinch Comes Early to Chestnut Hill
Every year, there’s a bin of toys that sits in front of the Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last Sunday, for the first time in more than 20 years, it was empty. The toys, which go to disadvantaged children through the Toys for Tots program, were apparently stolen the night before. Shop owner Dan Weiss, who from this Inky article appears to be the kindest person ever to live in the Philadelphia metro area, has probably never been angrier. “Maybe we have the picture of the lowlife – or lowlives – who took toys from children whose families can’t afford to buy them,” he said, about the possibility of capturing the thieves on video.
