The 35th Annual SisterSpace Festival (10 a.m.) spends the weekend at Camp Ramblewood in Darlington, Md. The nation’s longest-running lesbian festival features live music, workshops, dance parties, crafts, sports and a community with hundreds of women from the Mid-Atlantic. Also look for comedy from Mimi Gonzales and music by Virago.
Papeles: Are We What We Sign? (12 p.m.) opens with a reception at Painted Bride. The exhibition examined how papers and other legal contracts relate to identity and sexual orientation.
Carousel Vintage & Contemporary Fashion is celebrating a grand opening (5 p.m.) in Old City (right across from the Betsy Ross House).
The Essence of Life and Line (5 p.m.) opens with a reception at Indy Hall with Sean Martorana.
Guys Night Out visits the opening of GenderReel (6 p.m.) at the William Way before setting off for a gallery crawl through Old City’s First Friday.
See a free screening of the film Pariah at Clark Park (7:30 p.m.) in West Philly. The event’s co-sponsored by Permanent Wave Philly and the Philadelphia International Action Center.
Ladies and Gentlemen present Rock Opera: An Improvised Musical Event (8 p.m.) at the First Unitarian Church.
Thank Goddess It’s OMG (10 p.m.) is at Tabu. The show – hosted by Notorious OMG – features The Goddess Isis, Sabrina Chap, Timaree and Screw Smart.
Saturday, Sept. 8
Get to East Passyunk Avenue for the September Fringe Festival, Trunk Show and Beer Tasting (11 a.m.).
It’s the 16th Annual Delaware Pride Festival (11 a.m.) at Blue Diamond Park in New Castle, Del., with proceeds benefitting Delaware Pride. This year’s headliner is Jade Starling from Pretty Poison, with appearances by Kristina Kelly, Gracie Freebush, the Rainbow Chorale of Delaware, Kalifornia Futuristic and many others. The Royal Court Pageant kicks off the day’s events.
Crimson Moon in Wilmington, Del., hosts the Unofficial After-Party benefitting Delaware Pride (6 p.m.) with Miss Brie Daniels and Miss Desiree Evergreen.
Penn-Jersey Roller Derby battles during a Rookie Rampage at the Skating Center in Mt. Laurel, N.J.
GenderReel presents Mixtape (9 p.m.) at Tabu to raise money for local transman Rae Drew. DJ Tay Tay will be spinning with performances by Tammy Famous (voted as Best Up-and-Coming Queen by G Philly), Alize Elegance, Super Defstar, Jaci Adams and Najee.
Barry Manilow plays the Revel (9 p.m.) in Atlantic City, N.J.
Sunday, Sept. 9
Hold onto summer with a pool party at the Raven in New Hope (12 p.m.) sponsored by the Greater Philadelphia Flag Football League.
Get yourself together with a Hangover Brunch (12 p.m.) at ICandy with made-to-order waffles and omelettes and bottomless mimosas and half-price bloodies.
Three guys reenact 200 Hollywood classics in Completely Hollywood (3 p.m.) at the Eagle Theatre in Hammonton, N.J.
The Savor Gala (6 p.m.) benefits the New Hope Arts Center in Bucks County.
