Lenfest Offers $40 Million Challenge Grant for New “Museum of the American Revolution”

Lenfest Offers $40M Challenge Grant for Museum. The American Revolution Center is supposedly set to unveil plans for a new ” Museum of the American Revolution” at Third and Chestnut streets. Gerry Lenfest is expected to announce a $40 million challenge grant to help fund the project. The state has also offered $30 million in capital redevelopment funds, so if the challenge is met, the project’s price tag could climb to $110 million. [Inquirer]

Utley Due Back in 20 Days. The Phils second baseman will officially begin his rehab assignment by playing DH in Clearwater today. Major League Baseball allows for 20-day rehab assignments, so Utley should be back in the Bigs in three weeks. [CSN]

Yacht Explosion Might Be a Hoax. Yesterday afternoon it was reported that a luxury yacht had exploded about 17 miles off the coast of Sandy Hook, New Jersey. The Coast Guard couldn’t find a debris field and all of the passengers were said to have been accounted for. The alleged explosion is now being considered a possible hoax. [Inquirer]

Hurricane Schwartz Due Back From Surgery. NBC 10 chief meteorologist Glenn “Hurricane” Schwartz is expected to return to the station on Monday. Meteorologist Sheena Parveen has been filling in for Schwartz following his double bypass surgery in late April. [NBC Philadelphia]

Neshaminy Teachers End Strike, Again. Teachers will return to work on Wednesday. They had been given a deadline of June 15th to end their strike so that the students could finish out the school year by the end of the month. [Inquirer]

Man Robbed, Shot in Society Hill. A man on a bike was shot twice in the back and robbed at 4th and Gaskill just before midnight last night. He’s in stable condition at Jefferson University Hospital. [NBC Philadelphia]
