Jenkintown School District on Lockdown

Police activity has prompted a district-wide lockdown in Jenkintown. Police apparently called the superintendent of the Jenkintown School District at 10 a.m. to have him ensure that no one enter or leave any of the district’s schools. No injuries have been reported as police search for a suspect. [6 ABC]

UPDATE: Police were searching for a fugitive out of New York and locked the schools down as a precaution. The schools are no longer on lockdown as police apprehended the homicide suspect after he fled on foot and tried to jump in front of a SEPTA regional rail train. [CBS 3]
