Written by Philly’s own Erik Ransom, the show is holding auditions at the Plays & Players Theater (4 p.m.) through the weekend in time for the June 27th opening. The Human Rights Campaign 16th Annual Equality Dinner at the Ritz-Carlton is sold out (5 p.m.). The event kicks of with a special VIP reception and a few celebrity guests like Maria Bello and Ross Mathews and outgoing HRC president Joe Solmonese. The Penn Pride games kick off (11 a.m.) at Hill Field in University City.
The Arch Street Methodist Church celebrates its 150th anniversary (11 a.m.) with Peggy Johnson, a female bishop who supports LGBT rights.
Tattoo Mom’s hosts its spring trunk show (1 p.m.) featuring Wilbur Vintage, Rocker’s Closet, Philly AIDS Thrift and other local independent vendors.
The Media Theater is the site of the Spring Awakening Teen Town Hall Meeting (2 p.m.), a panel discussion about issues facing young people – like gay relationships, sex and abortion – designed for both parents and teens. Dr. Betsy Crane from Widener University talks about human sexuality. The event coincides with the hit musical being performed at the theater this season.
