Judge Won’t Step Down From Catholic Church Child-Endangerment Case

Attorneys representing Monsignor William J. Lynn wanted Common Pleas Court Judge M. Teresa Sarmina to step down from the child-endangerment case. The request came after Sarmina said, “Anyone that doesn’t think there was widespread sexual abuse within the Catholic Church is living on another planet,” during a pretrial hearing in response to a proposed jury questionnaire. Today, Sarmina announced that she will not recuse herself from the case. [Inquirer]
