Middle School Teacher Attacked in Mount Airy

A teacher at Morris E. Leeds Middle School in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and is in stable condition after an assault by a student at school this morning. More details have not been released. The news comes after recent reports of the ongoing issues of violence at city schools that prompted one student to drop out and 828 “serious incident” reports to be filed. [6 ABC]

UPDATE: The assault is said to have taken place inside a classroom. The eighth grade student involved was immediately suspended and was arrested for allegedly attacking his science teacher. [NBC Philadelphia]
