Judge Postpones Cardinal Bevilacqua’s Compentency Hearing
Now slated for October 7th
Cardinal Anthony J. Bevilacqua—a potential key witness in the trials of those arrested in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia sexual abuse scandal—has not made a public appearance since three members of the Archdiocese were arrested in February. Bevilacqua is in debilitating health and is rumored to be suffering from dementia that may prevent him from being able to testify. Today, a Philadelphia judge pushed Cardinal Bevilacqua’s compentency hearing—originally scheduled for September 12th—back to October 7th. [Inquirer]
