Adam Carolla Isn’t Very Funny

The comedian doesn't seem to like trans or gay folks

Remember Adam Carolla? Barely, right? Well, the comedian who first made his mark on MTV’s Loveline years ago (yep, he gave sex advice) is back in the news. During a podcast recently, Carolla went on a homophobic and transphobic rant that has him apologizing.

Carolla said that LGBT people should refer to themselves as “yuck.” He also went on a few other tirades, including one about Chaz Bono, that can be heard here. But be warned, it’s not safe for work.

While comedians usually get a pass (gay fave Lisa Lampanelli certainly ventures into uncharted territory now and again) there’s a difference between being funny and being a jerk. And this guy, well, he’s in desperate need of a new act. The old knuckle-dragging routine just isn’t aging gracefully.

GLAAD already commented about Carolla, saying, “Given his history of antigay and racist comments, networks and advertisers should know what their money is supporting if they choose to hire Adam Carolla,” says Herndon Graddick, senior director of programs at GLAAD. “The gross intolerance that he tries to pass off as comedy should not have a place on our airwaves.”

Interestingly, Carolla posed for the NoH8 campaign last year – the same year he proclaimed that a dad and a mom are better than two dads and two moms. Again, we ask: Is that really funny?
