Aker Philadelphia Shipyard has signed a letter of intent to get some much needed business. The shipbuilder will reportedly be able to stay afloat through 2014 with because of the large order. Each ship is speculated to cost SeaRiver Maritime Inc—a marine affiliate of Exxon Mobil Corp.—upwards of $200 million. The ships will be used to transport crude oil from the Alaskan pipeline to the West Coast of the continental United States. [Inquirer]
