Phillies and Citizens Bank Launch “Phans Feeding Families” Initiative

The Phillies announced a new charitable program

The Phillies have been in a giving mood this month. The 2011 Phillies Phestival was the best in the 22-year history of the event. Then, Cole Hamels and his wife Heidi donated $200,000 to schools in the city. Now, the Phillies have unveiled a new philanthropic initiative designed to combat hunger in the Delaware Valley. Citizens Bank started by giving $133,000 to Phans Feeding Families, which encourages fans to purchase a limited-edition pin, volunteer at a fundraiser or donate to the program that benefits Philabundance and other charitable organizations targeting hunger in the area. With the way the Phils are looking on the field, maybe all of this giving is turning into some good karma. [PR Newswire]
