Pulse: Style Scene: Now Open: A Branch Grows in Philly
While newcomer Brooklyn Industries — which has 10 stores in New York — is all about the Empire State, some serendipitous connections have brought a location to Walnut Street. “This city has a creative community that provides a great synergy for the spirit and energy behind Brooklyn Industries,” says CEO Lexy Funk. And that synergy is translated into bright-patterned short skirts for $88, boyfriend blazers for under $100, and striped polos for him. The two-floor space (which Brooklyn finally landed after much scouting) is filled with up-cycling fixtures, meaning shipping pallets that would have been destined for the trash now serve as cute displays for the urban goods.
1525 Walnut Street, 267-273-1081, brooklynindustries.com.

First-time store owner Molly Cygan is shaking things up on Main Street with The Little Apple, a gift and home-accessories boutique that also has a smattering of vintage goods. Cheery Molly has filled the store with things she loves, whether that’s pretty little note cards, artsy jewelry from Tree & Kimball that she found on Etsy.com, Smith’s Rosebud Salve, or puppy-shaped soaps from Gianna Rose.
4353 Main Street, Manayunk, 267-335-4968, thelittleapplestore.com.
