Naked Chocolate’s Sweet New Space

What kind of party couldn’t you hold at this dessert utopia’s new Rittenhouse home?

Naked Chocolate is one of those places that we didn’t even know we needed until we got it — and now we’ve got it in threes. The coffee shop/dessert utopia opened its third Philly location yesterday on 18th Street between Chestnut and Market. And at this outpost, owner Sara Block (read our mini-profile of her from the February issue) is trying a few new things.

First, this spiffy new spot has a mezzanine level (dubbed the Dessert Lounge at Naked Chocolate Café) that seats almost 50 and can be rented for private events. (We can’t think of an event that wouldn’t be perfect here: kid’s birthday, office party, baby shower and, ahem, my 30th birthday next year …) But hold onto your eyebrows, there’s more! Launching right after V-Day, they’ll be doing flaming tableside desserts like baked Alaska, bananas foster and cherries jubilee — all set to the sounds of live piano music on select nights.

In our book all of this confirms two things: 1. Naked Chocolate is officially a very welcoming non-drinking place to go with a group of friends or family on a weekend night. 2. You can expect Naked Chocolate to keep on growing. We’re rooting for ya!
