Critic’s Notebook: On the Avenue

Today marks the start of East Passyunk Avenue’s holiday bar crawls, happening weekly through December 17th. This recently revitalized shopping and food district gets into the spirit of the season with lights and holiday decorations all along the Avenue, plus guest appearances by Old Saint Nick on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. Tonight’s crawl kicks off at the newly opened Adobe Café (1919 East Passyunk) at 6 p.m., then continues along the Avenue to some South Philly pubs including Lucky 13, Cantina El Caballito, The Pub on Passyunk East (aka the Pope) and Paradiso. Admission costs $10.
