Cory Wade Staring in South Jersey Production of RENT

America’s Next Top Model guru and Philadelphia favorite Cory Wade will be starring in the popular Jonathan Larson musical RENT at the Ritz Theatre Company in Oaklyn, New Jersey. He’ll be playing the gender-fluid Angel in the production.

RENT, which was a staple favorite for theater kids in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, is loosely based on Puccini’s La Boheme, and tells the story of a group of friends and lovers who deal with the harsh reality of creating art, HIV, and AIDS. It’s perhaps best known for the off-stage drama that occurred: The show’s composer, Larson, died several days before his work premiered off-Broadway. The show later went on to win Pulitzer and Tony Awards, and was the arguably career-defining for Idina Menzel, who played Maureen in the original production.
