FringeArts Scratch Night On August 24 Is Pretty Darn Queer

There’s always a ton of LGBT-themed offerings at the annual FringeArts Festival, and this Monday, August 24th, a selection of some of the festival’s queerest acts can be previewed during their Scratch Night series, which will show works-in-progress that will be featured at the upcoming performing arts extravaganza.

Tangle Movement Arts

The free 7 pm show features segments from Purgatory by Gunnar Montana, American Standard by Brian Sanders’ JUNK, and The Girl’s Guide to Neighborly Conduct by Tangle Movement Arts, an all-female queer aerial group. Also on the Monday roster: The Renegade Company’s Damned Dirty Apes!and Hannah Van Sciver’s Fifty Days at Iliam.

The FringeArts folks describe the evening as follows: “Come see a roster of Philly’s most talented artists perform new material from shows they are working on in this fast-paced sampling of contemporary theater, dance, performance art, and everything in between. Scratch Night features short performances by four-to-six companies/artists, offering an inside look at the future of performance.”

Although admission is free to the 60-minute Scratch Night, Fringe Arts does suggest a donation of $5. For more information, visit their webpage.
