Sisters Sirens Reunite at Franky Bradley’s For a One-Night-Only Affair

Philly’s sadly defunct lesbian bar Sisters is getting a resurrection of sorts this month thanks to a new monthly party at Franky Bradley’s, the restaurant/bar that moved in to Sisters’ shuttered digs.

On Sunday, March 29th, Peek-a-Boo Revue’s Scott Johnston’s monthly burlesque party will roll out the rainbow carpet to host an evening of entertainment by many of the performers that used to grace the stages, poles and bar tops at Sisters.

The evening’s performance lineup was curated by Dr. Timaree, who, under the moniker HoneyTree Evil Eye, founded Sisters house dance troupe the Sisters Sirens.

“A lot of people were left without a place of their own after Sisters closed,” she says. “It’s heartbreaking that Philadelphia has been without a women’s space for a year and a half. But Franky Bradley’s is even more beautiful and inviting than we could have dreamed. And they want all of us who loved Sisters to know we’re welcome; there’s room here for us.”

Among those she’s bringing back will be Peek-a-Boo Revue’s Ginger Leigh, who used to perform with the Sisters Sirens; pole dance artist—and Sisters Sirens co-founder—Sara, and performance artist Qhoiyn B Allure. The evening will be MC’d by Christa D’Agger and—are you ready for this—legendary Sisters DJ Trish will provide tunes in between acts.

“This is a great way to honor the space where we created so many memories and to look forward to the future as a community, as well,” Timaree tells me. “I’m always excited about bringing together talented queer performers and Franky Bradley’s wants to make sure we know we’re welcome in this space.”

HoneyTree’s Sisters Sirens reunion takes place on Sunday, March 29th, at 8 pm. Admission is $10 at the door and worth every penny. Come in hordes, because, while this is only slated to be a one-night-only affair, Timaree tells me they’ll keep it going if it’s successful.
