Eat Fried Chicken for Breakfast While the Eagles Play in London
Fishtown's Love & Honey is opening early with a special morning-inspired menu for this Sunday's game.
We’re pretty obsessed with Love & Honey’s crispy, crunchy, brothy, Questlove-approved fried chicken recipe — the one that chef Todd Lyons spent years perfecting and that he and his wife Laura Lyons built their business around. And this Sunday, because of football, they’re serving up a breakfast menu for the first time ever.
Love & Honey regularly sells out of its sought-after fried chicken early on game days — but since the Eagles are playing the Jaguars across the pond in London, their showdown at Wembley Stadium is airing at the early hour 9:30 a.m. here in the States. While we personally see no issue with chowing down on Nashville hot chicken and potato salad first thing in the morning, the Lyonses took this opportunity to show off their brunchtime talents.
This Sunday, October 28th, starting at 7:30 a.m. and going until 2 p.m. or sellout, Love & Honey will serve a special menu of chicken and buttermilk waffles with bourbon maple syrup and honey butter, plus a pork roll, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich with buttermilk fried chicken breast on an everything Philly Muffin. The only item available from their regular menu will be wings (of course), but they’ll have some extra sweets — lemon blueberry and banana coffee cake muffins to go with their custom Green Street coffee blend — and a la carte waffles, too.
The fine print: there’s no delivery or pre-ordering with this menu — walk-ins only — and it’s first come, first served. Check out the full menu here, and we’ll see you there (still in our p.j.s, probably) early on Sunday morning.
