It’s Really Frigging Cold, So How About Some Free Soup?
The only thing better than a really good bowl of homemade soup on an Arctic-blasted day like this one is a really good free bowl of homemade soup. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered.
The folks over at Chris’ Jazz Cafe (1421 Sansom Street, 215-568-3131) have come up with a novel promotion: The colder it gets outside, the cheaper the soup. And if it’s really, bone-achingly cold like it is today, well, then the soup is free.
Here’s how it works. If the temperature is between 36 and 39 degrees, you can get the soup special for $2. Between 33 and 35, and your soup is a buck. And if the air outside is at freezing or below, free soup!
The soup changes each day. Monday’s soup is loaded baked potato, which is made with potatoes (duh), shallots, bacon, sherry, and cheddar cheese.
Plus, the $7 Monday lunch special is duck confit served with fregola sarda, and you can add on a salad for $2, meaning for less than $10, you can get duck confit, soup and a salad. I like where this is going.
