Barbuzzo Presents the Salted Caramel Budino Stuffed Cruffin

The improvement on croissants and muffins we never knew we needed.

We didn’t think that the Salted Caramel Budino—the popular Barbuzzo dessert featuring layered custard-y pudding with caramel sauce and dark chocolate cookie crumbs topped with whipped cream—could be improved. However, Marcie Turney and Val Safran thought otherwise: on Friday, October 28th, they will present The Salted Caramel Budino Stuffed Cruffin.

What is a cruffin? We’re glad you asked. Not to be confused with a cronut, it’s a cross between a croissant and muffin. This one is rolled in sugar, stuffed with chef Turney’s special caramel budino pudding and topped with dark chocolate cookie crumbs, caramel sauce and a few grains of Fleur de Sel sea salt. Good thing it’s Sweets Week.

The cruffins will be available in the second floor private event space at Barbuzzo from 11 a.m. until sellout on Friday October 28th and Saturday October 29th. Each cruffin in $6, cash only.

Other twists formerly made to this dessert include Frozen Budino Pops and Budino Donuts. We hope Turney and Safran keep twisting so we can keep eating.
