Philly Craft Spirits Week Is Coming

And other distillery news and events.

As we’ve been saying, Philadelphia’s craft distilling scene is booming. In fact it’s getting its own week. Kicking off with Philadelphia magazine’s Whiskey and Fine Spirits Festival on Thursday, October 27th, Philly Craft Spirits Week runs through Friday, November 4th. Follow Foobooz (we’re a presenting sponsor) for more details as the week approaches.

But you don’t have to wait until the end of October to enjoy locally produced spirits. On Sunday, World Cafe Live is hosting Distilladelphia, a tasting event that will feature 19 local distillers.

Events happen at distillery tasting rooms every weekend. One of the more special events this Saturday is Rhythm and Rye at Bristol’s Dad’s Hat Distillery. Austin-based singer/songwriter Beaver Nelson will be performing at 8 p.m. tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.

In Bethlehem, Social Still is releasing a fall spirit we can get behind, Vanilla Maple Bourbon. The release is Saturday at noon.

Across the river in Camden, Cooper River Distillers is still glowing after their write up in Playboy’s Strangest Spirits Made in Every State article. Cooper River made the list for its Single Run whiskey series. In particular for its whiskey made from Tuckahoe Porter and aged in American oak.

And at Aldine, George and Jennifer Sabatino’s restaurant has rolled out its fall cocktail menu, all made with local spirits.
