Slurp! It’s National Oyster Day
Foodimentary is clearly the bible of bored/desperate public relations professionals across the land. Foodimentary’s list of food holidays creates daily pitches that clutter my inbox. Every day is National Something Or Other Day and today oysters get the tap on the shoulder. Woo oysters!
So here are a few oyster deals to take advantage of today:
Rittenhouse’s a.bar is celebrating with oyster and drink pairings. Choose the Cremant de Limoux or a petite cocktail featuring Bluecoat Gin, Cocchi Americano, Dry Vermouth and Creme de Peche to pair with a half dozen oysters for $18. Or you can take down a cocktail shooter made with tomato water, house spice blend and a float of A.Vod for just $5.
What do you say to free oysters? That’s the option at Fine Palate (231 South 15th Street) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All guests that sit down to eat or drink will receive six complimentary oysters.
Center City’s Ocean Prime is offering dollar oysters for happy hour today (4:30 pm to 6:30 pm). Pair those bivalves with a cucumber gimlet or glass of Veuve Cliquot for $10.
Pennsylvania 6 is going all in on the oysters. In addition to dollar oysters all night, the Midtown Village restaurant is offering three traditional oyster dishes as specials. Choose among Oysters Rockefeller ($17), Oyster chowder ($10), Oyster tartare ($21) which comes with creme fraiche and caviar.
Red Owl Tavern is calling their deal of a dozen oysters and bottle of sparkling wine for $33 a Summer Citywide. Sorry guys, there already is a well defined citywide. The Independence Hall facing restaurant’s deal kicks off at 4:30 pm.
Or you could head to Oyster House, because where better to spend National Oyster Day than the place that does it best every day?
