Staying in the City This Memorial Day Weekend? You Will Not Go Hungry

Mike’s BBQ is popping up at the Garage
Over the last decade or so, it seems like the city doesn’t get abandoned as it used to, but Memorial Day definitely feels like the weekend when the city empties out the most. But if you are staying around, there are still fun things to do.
Over at Fitler Dining Room, where some of their management, employees and customers have jetted down to the Jersey Shore, those left behind are throwing a weekend long shindig called Taco Hut. On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from noon to 9 p.m. the normally high-end American restaurant will go Mexican with tacos, taquitos, sopes and of course, margaritas.
- All weekend, Grubhouse is paying tribute to Hodor with the Hodor sandwich, a plate fit for a heroic giant.
- On Saturday, Taproom on 19th’s Michael Strauss will be showing off his barbecuing prowess at the Garage. He’ll have brisket, ribs and pork starting at 4 p.m.
- Sunday, Pizzeria Beddia is hosting a cheesesteak pop-up with Food Underground. Hit the Girard Avenue shop at noon for the frizwit cheesesteaks and complimentary samplings of Sly Fox beer.
