Waffles & Wedges Celebrates 1st Birthday with a Block Party
Waffles & Wedges is turning one, and on Sunday, April 24th, owners Andrea Capecci and Laura Judy are celebrating with a block party on South Hicks Street, right next to the restaurant on 1511 Pine Street.
The outdoor celebration will start at 1 p.m. and will include waffle specials (naturally) and menu additions including $1 Party Crasher Mini Waffles and The Birthday Waffle Sandwich—Liege waffle with Nutella on both sides and Bassett’s vanilla ice cream, all coated in rainbow jimmies.
Which sounds awesome.
Broken Goblet Brewing, Neshaminy Creek Brewing, and Philadelphia Brewing Company will provide complimentary beer tastings, and Ten Gallon Hat Winery will give out samples as well. Other local partners attending are Bassett’s and Philly Fair Trade Roasters.
As if that isn’t enough, Capecci and Judy’s two food trucks, Pbons Fresh Phood Philly and Waffles and Wheels, will be parked outside to serve their grub.
In addition to all this food and drink, students from the University of the Arts will perform some live music, and the non profit organization Saved Me will bring some adoptable furry friends. Admission is free, and the food is pay-as-you-go. The celebration ends at 5 p.m.
