More Beer News: The Great Allentown Brew Works Cask Beer Festival
Yeah, we know that Allentown is over an hour away, but this is a totally valid reason to take a road trip. Because really, how many beer fests have you been to that pour exclusively cask beer—the most traditional, natural way to drink an ale?
Next Saturday, March 19th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. is Fegley’s Brew Works’ annual Great Allentown Brew Works Cask Beer Festival, which will have over thirty-two different cask creations from over a dozen breweries.
Not only that, but it’ll be a classier alternative to the normal St. Patrick’s Day celebrations–one that (likely) doesn’t involve getting trashed and embarrassing oneself on a street corner while decked out in green beads. So, along with the cask beer tastings, the O’Grady-Quinlan Academy Irish Step Dancers will have a performance and there will be a Celtic-themed buffet to nosh on.
Of course, like most other beer fests there will be a handful of vendors selling beer-related products like beer grain biscuits for dogs.
Tickets are $40 presale, $50 at the door, or you can get VIP tickets that let you in the fest an hour early (3 p.m.) so you can meet the brewery reps and brewers, eat some hors d’oeuvres, and sample some exclusive tappings. For designated drivers, DD tickets are $15 and include admission, food, and entertainment. You can get your tickets here.
I went last year, so I can tell you that it’s worth the trip–and I’m not even a big cask beer drinker.
