Saucony Creek Brewing Celebrating Gastropub Opening with BMX Stunts and a New Beer Release
Saucony Creek Brewing Co. of Kutztown is finally opening the doors to their new gastropub tomorrow, March 5th, and everyone is invited. This isn’t just your average grand opening though—it’s a straight up all-day-long party from 11 a.m. to midnight with live music and plenty of beer. Oh, and BMX and skate stunt shows from Dialed Action Sports Team.
Yes—BMX and skate stunt shows—which is totally appropriate considering that founder of Saucony Creek, Matt Lindenmuth, used to be a professional vert skater and snowboarder. Pretty awesome, right?
As for the beer, Saucony Creek will be releasing their 2016 xReserve Peach & Ginger Saison, which won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival last year. They’ll also be tapping a Maple Mistress that was aged in Wild Turkey bourbon barrels, and of course some of their other brews.
It’s been a long time coming for the opening of Saucony Creek’s gastropub, but I have a feeling it will be worth the wait. Lindenmuth sings the praises of head chef Tim Howells, saying Howells “built his culinary resumé at some of the most premier places throughout the Lehigh Valley.” Lindenmuth says the food will be “as crafty as the beer” and be focused on locally sourced, farm-to-table food not coming from anywhere outside of a 100-mile radius.“We do try to incorporate as much as we can from our local farms, our local growers, and we’ll continue to do that forever,” he says.
The celebration will start out with the first stunt show at noon with Bob Hogan and Whiskey Creek performing their music until 3 p.m., then from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Hannah Violet will be on the stage, with the second stunt show starting at 5 p.m. Tritide will finish up the musical performances for the day from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Yeah, Kutztown is a bit of a drive from Philly (about an hour and a half from Center City), but it isn’t every day that a brewery has a grand opening and a stunt show. Do you need any more convincing?
