Lou Bird’s Coming to 20th and Lombard
Norris and Debbie Jordan of the Happy Rooster are working on opening their second restaurant, Lou Bird’s, located on 20th and Lombard, across from Pub & Kitchen. Lou Bird’s is replacing Meritage, which closed last September.
The restaurant will serve “high-end American cuisine” including steak, fish, and pasta all at the $19-$21 range. While The Happy Rooster has two bars, Lou Bird’s will have one, leaving room for more seating, and the menu will be larger.
Jordan envisions Lou Bird’s to be a”quiet, lovely place to eat” with candles and warm lighting. He wants the restaurant to be a place that is open to everyone in the neighborhood.
They have a lot of work going into the building—knocking down walls, putting in windows, and building a new bar, and right now, Jordan says that he and his wife aren’t too concerned about the opening date. “We’re gonna get it right, and open whenever it is,” he says. But for now, they are anticipating opening Lou Bird’s around mid-May, early June.
