Sour Bowl II and Stout Bowl I Coming To Bru And U-Bahn
So sure, the Superbowl is coming right up (go Broncos), but for some of you out there, the big game just doesn’t get your juices flowing. What does get you pumped up? Beer. And the good people at Bru and U-Bahn are coming through for you with two events this Sunday, January 31, focusing on rare stouts and sours.
How rare, you ask? Super rare. As in almost never put on draft anywhere. So rare that one of the beers is made from yeast that went to space.
Intrigued? Read on…
This Sunday, starting at 11am, Bru is hosting Sour Bowl II with 32 draft lines featuring 28 sours including 3 Belgian lambics (Hannsen’s Oude Lambic, Cantillon Kriek, and Tilquin L’Ancienneand), 3 rare Russian River sours (Supplication, Consecration and Temptation)–plus 4 famous IPAs, including Pliny the Elder.
Downstairs, U-Bahn will be featuring the stouts for the inaugural Stout Bowl, and this is where things get really weird. One of the stouts on draft will be Ninkasi Ground Control, which is brewed from a yeast that made a trip to space (space yeast!). There’ll also be two Speedway Variants from Alesmith (Hawaiian and Vietnamese coffee), Founders KBS, Deschutes Abyss and Cinnamon Roll Wake And Bake from Terrapin.
There are all kinds of price and glass-size variations on the list, but it looks to me like everything is running in the $6-$10 per pour, with glassware ranging from 6oz goblets to pints. There are no reservations for this event. No spaces will be held. It’s just one of those show-up-and-fight-it-out kind of situations (metaphorically speaking). So get there early, be cool, and come thirsty.
