Philly Style Bagels’ Opening Day Menu

Anyone who knows Philly Style Bagels from their pop-ups at Pizzeria Beddia is already counting the days to the official opening of their permanent shop in Fishtown, opening this Saturday.

It’s been a long process for owners Collin Shapiro and Jonathon Zilber, but after a ton of hard work, a successful indiegogo campaign, and a true passion for making bagels, they officially have a place to call their own.

If you haven’t had their bagels before, here’s what you need to know: they are the only shop in the world that boils their bagels with beer in the kettle water rather than the traditional malt syrup or honey. Better yet, it’s good old Yards IPA. The result of this method is a malty bagel with the perfect amount of crunch.

Plan on stopping by Saturday? The menu is looking good. Not only will they have their traditional bagels (everything, sesame, garlic, plain, etc.), they’ll have special spreads to go with them like smoked salmon cream cheese and scallion cream cheese.

If you’re craving something even more substantial, Philly Style Bagels will also be serving bagel sandwiches like the hummus sandwich, which includes hummus, cucumber, red onion, and arugula.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a bagel shop without some coffee as well. They will be open at 8 a.m. on Saturday and tend to sell out fast, but it seems that they’re making sure they have enough for the anticipated crowd.

After you roll out of bed Saturday morning, you can find them at 1451 East Columbia Avenue.
