“Made On American Street” Block Party This Sunday
Philadelphia Homebrew Club, in partnership with Philabundance, is shutting down American Street in North Philly to throw a block party full of all-you-can-eat BBQ and home-brewed beers.
On Sunday Oct. 18, from 2pm-6pm, Philly Homebrew Club will host its 9th annual “Made on American Street,” to raise money for Philabundance’s non-profit food bank organization with a BBQ rib and chicken competition and brew tasting.
Along with live music, activities and games, the event will have 15 barbecue teams participating in a cook-off with plenty of ribs, chicken and southern sides for guests to feast on.
Guests will fire-up their own versions of a perfect rack of ribs, supplied by Hatfield Quality Meats, while teams take a shot at perfecting the new chicken category, as well as the southern sides category (aka all the comfort food your stomach can handle).
With the purchase of a $40 ticket, guests will receive full admission to replenish their plates with food along with their very own Philly Homebrew Club tasting glass for sampling various autumn brews throughout the day.
An immense beer selection from local breweries will be available for trying different tastes including American lagers, IPA’s, blonde, brown, cream and pale ales, fruit and spice brews, specialty smoked and wood-aged beers and much more.
There will also be a chance to win various prizes throughout the day and a big chunk of change for the best tasting food, of course. There will be a $1,200 grand prize for 1st place winners with the best-tasting ribs or chicken, $600 for second place and $300 for third.
Expert judges will determine the winners and the crowd will vote on selecting the “people’s choice.” Kids under 12 eat and play for free and there will even be a castle moon-bounce, so it’s an event for all ages to enjoy.
Tickets can be purchased through Philadelphia Homebrew Club.
