DiBruno Bros. Is Having A Cheese Crawl This Weekend
Hold on to your Swiss cheese hats and lace up your limburger shoes, because this Saturday, October 17th, DiBruno Brothers will host their second ever Cheese Crawl at their five area stores. The event, which debuted last December as a sort of scavenger hunt, was wildly popular, so they’ve further upped the ante for this, the second, adding a more focused progression that leads to a street festival at the end.
UPDATE: DiBruno is selling tickets for this year’s event in order to keep a handle on the crowds. They’ll run you $20. Get yours here.
Begin your quest at half past noon on Saturday at four of DiBruno’s area stores—The Franklin, The Comcast Center, the Ardmore Farmer’s Market, or Rittenhouse Square—to enjoy samples and pairings of cheese, naturally, but also cider, wine, and other edible treats from the likes of 1732 Meats and Weckerly’s Ice Cream. In addition to DiBruno’s usual array of edibles, you’ll also find extra cheesy fun in the form of a cheese photo booth and “Cheese Whiz” Speed Quizzo, featuring fast-paced, cheese-based questions from Quizzo master Johnny Goodtimes.
At each location you visit you can collect a stamp on your Cheese Crawl Passport, which you’ll be able to redeem for food and drink should you make it to the Cheese Crawl’s terminus–a last stop at the shop that started it all down in the Italian Market on 9th Street. From 2:00 until 6:00 a crawlers-only street fair will take over. Yards Brewery is sponsoring beers for the event, so you’ll be able to wash down snacks like tomato basil arancini, speck-wrapped focaccia, goat cheese-stuffed peppadews or 1732 Meats “Porkloaf” sandwiches with a nice, cold Brawler. Redeem your passport stamps for these and, if you’re still hungry, throw down a little cheddar and buy yourself some more. A fitting celebration for a Fall Cheese Crawl, just as long as you don’t let victory gouda your head…
