Two Bar Crawls To Get You Over The Midweek Hump

Tonight is the Passyunk Passeggiata and a Center City Speakeasy Stroll

Yes, Memorial Day shortened this week. So yes, admittedly the week has barely begun.

Still, you may still be feeling the Wednesday blues, so here are two food and drink crawls to make it all better.

Passyunk Passeggiata, a dining and shopping after-work stroll on East Passyunk Avenue, is holding its kick-off event tonight. Alternatively, make your way to Center City for the the Speakeasy Stroll, which kicks off a series of events culminating in Glen Foerd’s Jazz Age on the Delaware event happening later this summer.

The Passyunk Passeggiata is inspired by the evening summer strolls common in small Italian towns, and will run weekly throughout the summer. It’s centered around the Singing Fountain Farmers’ Market, which runs from 3 PM  to 7 PM, and will feature Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Inside Out installations along the avenue until August 9th. To go along with these events, there will be live music, extended boutique hours, seasonal menu specials, and tons of outdoor dining.

Strollers will have the chance to check out the shops that are remaining open until 8 PM (many of which are offering a 5% discount tonight for the kick-off). Not in the mood to shop? Enjoy dining discounts and happy hours at participating restaurants along Passyunk, also offered until 8 PM. The event will pop-up every Wednesday in the late afternoon starting today until Labor Day.

Speakeasy Stroll in Center City.

If you’re Center City bound, the Speakeasy Stroll will be the first of many preview events for Jazz Age on the Delaware, a pop-up picnic and festival on August 1st at the Glen Foerd Mansion. There, guests will partake in a Gatsby-esque bacchanalia of a lawn party while enjoying vintage-inspired food and drink. Activities will include a pie-baking contest, a chance for guests get their groove on to 1920s style music, lawn games, and more.

For those feelin’ a little jazzy tonight, the Speakeasy Stroll will start at 5:30 and offer $8 specialty cocktails at each establishment. The lineup:

5:30-6:30: The Ranstead Room (2013 Ranstead Street)

6:30-7:30: 1 Tippling Place (2006 Chestnut Street)

7:30-8:30: Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co.  (112 S. 18th Street)

8:30-9:30: Vesper (223 S. Sydenham Street)

9:30-10:30: 1925 Lounge (111 S.17th Street)

One way or another, Wednesday shall pass.
