Good Riddance: McFadden’s Closes Today
From the Department of Don’t Let the Door Hit You In the Ass comes news that the 3rd Street location of McFadden’s – aka that horrible bar somewhere near the cruddy cusp of Old City and Northern Liberties – is closing its doors today. And all God’s people said, “AMEN!”
After fourteen years of bar fights, crappy beer, sticky floors, lousy bands, puking customers and drunken make out sessions and amassing one of the more impressively awful followings of frat boy-types, South Jersey folks, and other people that you’d rather not be caught dead drinking with, the bar is calling it quits in that location.
“It’s a bittersweet day for this McFadden’s, but we’re excited about our new business ventures,” said McFadden’s CEO John Sullivan in a statement.
That’s right: Unfortunately, the people who brought you McFadden’s are working on opening up a new bar and restaurant in Philadelphia. Plus, there’s always the company’s lousy Tavern on Broad and then McFadden’s at Citizens Bank Park, so if you want to hang out in shitty bars, there are still options for you here.
McFadden’s is part of the East Coast Saloons management group, which operates dozens of similarly bad (but almost always busy!) bars throughout the United States, including McFadden’s, Calico Jack’s, and Johnny Utah’s in New York.
