Approaching winter isn’t all that bad, because that means that Blue Cross Riverrink is about to open. And if you miss Spruce Street’s Harbor Park, this is its winter alternative. The regulation-sized skating rink offers public skating sessions, season-long special events, parties, private functions, as well as skate rentals and sharpening. But the skating rink isn’t the only attraction.

The rink has announced the opening day of its seasonal celebration Winterfest as November 28th.

The ice skating rink will feature thousands of lights, great food and drinks, comfy rockers and couches, and most importantly, fire pits, fireplaces, and heat lamps.

This year, the food and drink will be housed within a newly revamped Lodge, an indoor space consisting of two heated tents with couches, indoor fireplaces, rustic decorations, and a wraparound porch complete with rockers and heat lamps. Garces Events executive chef Adam DeLosso will be creating a winter menu for the Lodge. The concession stand will offer quick, casual food options. There will also be a coffee shop and a bar serving local craft beers and cocktails, as well as a variety of spiked hot drinks.

General admission to the Winterfest is free, while skating admission is $3 per person. If you need rental skates, that’ll cost you only an extra $10.
