Crabby Cafe and Sports Bar Replacing Max’s at the Piazza
It’s a new year and another new concept for the Piazza at Schmidt’s. Max’s Brew Bar and its 30 or so beer taps is giving away to Crabby Cafe and Sports Bar. Crabby Cafe promises the interesting combination of Cajun and Vietnamese cuisine on a seafood-focused menu.
Crabby Cafe and Sports Bar follows on the heels of the original Crabby Cafe, located at 6905 Castor Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia. That location opened about 8 months ago and has solid Yelp reviews. The new spot offers a menu consisting of seafood-focused appetizers and a variety of pho. The seafood section of the menu offers crawfish, shrimp and a variety of crabs in Cajun spices.
How the concept will do at the Piazza will be interesting to follow. Max’s Brew Bar lasted 18 months and succeeded the short lived Raw at the Piazza. And that Tony Rim project took the space from Speck, which never did make it to opening day.
The grand opening is set for Friday, January 10th and will feature dollar oysters and any draft beer for $2.
