Homebrewers Conference Is in Town; Great Beer Is Out on the Town
3,400 home-brewers are in town starting today for the three-day American Homebrewing Association conference. In addition to all sorts of beer-nerdy happenings at the sold-out conference itself, many local bars are pulling out some bad-ass beers. Strangelove’s in Center City will be catering to the beer geeks with the likes of Cantillon Classic Gueuze as well as Russian River’s Pliny the Elder.
Devil’s Den is also holding events each night. Tonight it is Virginia’s Devil’s Backbone will be in the house. The beer isn’t normally available in Philadelphia, but the Great American Beer Festival award winning beer will be on special tonight. Tomorrow it is German brewer Sebastian Sauer in the house. Sauer is as rebelious as a German brewer gets, he even ignores the rules of the Reinheitsgebot (German Beer Law). And Sunday, Yards will be on hand for a meet and greet.
Philly Tap Finder has the details on two more events. The Field House is doing an exclusively local beer event this evening and University City’s City Tap House is hosting rarities from around the world.
