Garces Involved in PHL Project
The Sunday Inquirer outlined the planned upgrades to Terminal F at Philadelphia International Airport. When the project is completed, the F might stand for food. Among the improvements, a host of new eating options including Local, a new tavern that will feature Jose Garces as a consultant. The restaurant/bar will not be a Garces Restaurant Group property but chefs will be trained in Garces restaurants. Every seat will come with an iPad from which you can place orders, surf the web and check flight times. Each table will also have outlets to make charging up a snap.
Garces’ tavern won’t be the only new food spot opening.
- Chipotle
- LaColombe
- LeBus Bakery
- Philly Pretzel Factory
- Re:Vive – a sports bar
- Tobu – a Japanese restaurant
Talks are also ongoing to land a “well-known” cheesesteak operator and a burger concept. James Tyrrell, Philadelphia’s deputy aviation director for property and business development says they are in talks with Five Guys, 500 Degrees and Smashburger.
The first new businesses will open by Thanksgiving with others including Garces’ opening by next July 1st and project being completed by September 2013.
