TV Chef Janet Davis Closing Scotch Bonnets in Medford
Alas, Delilah’s wasn’t the only restaurant serving cuisine from the African diaspora to close this month.
Scotch Bonnets Restaurant & Catering, the year-old Jamaican BYO in Medford, NJ owned by local TV chef Janet Davis, closed March 10th. Chef Janet, as she’s known, hosted and produced The Pepper Pot Cooking Show on MIND-TV. She was also the regional media spokesperson for Cabot Creamery, and makes frequent appearances on NBC-10 and Fox Philly.
Davis announced the closure in an email to her supporters, saying, “As I’m sure you’re aware, the restaurant business is a tough one, and not having the financial wherewithal and the ideal location can make that equally so.” So with a self-described “heavy heart,” Davis plans to assess the demand for her continued catering services and will look for another job in the food industry.
