Shucking (And Boozing) For “Behind Belle’s Bar” Happy Hour
Got plans for tomorrow night? If you like meat rocks and bubbly wine, you do now.
On Thursday, June 30, Village Belle (which critic Trey Popp reviewed rather harshly back in February of this year) is throwing their second “Behind Belle’s Bar” happy hour, this time featuring Lisa Tiscavitch, a sales rep for Samuels & Son Seafood Co. who is also some kind of oyster expert–which she’ll be proving by standing behind the bar and shucking alongside the regular crew while handing down bits of oyster lore and knowledge to the assembled crowds.
The night’s list will be an East Coast/West Coast showdown, with Cape May Salts, Blue Points and Beau Soleil representing the local bounty and Kumamoto, Effingham and Drunken Kiss standing up for the Left Coast. Tiscavitch will be there to explain the differences between species. There’ll also be cold prosecco, specialty cocktails and (of course) discount prices on the bivalves. The shucking gets under way at 6pm and will be done by 9pm, so go early and go hungry.
