Stay Cool with an Ice Cream Festival

For the sweetest kind of brain freeze during the peak of Philly’s summer swelter, head to the fourth annual Ultimate Ice Cream Festival on Saturday, July 17 in Reading Terminal Market’s Center Court. Bassetts Ice Cream, the Market’s oldest vendor, will team up with WHYY and leading local independent frozen dessert artisans from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for some frostbitten activities. You can sample ice cream from Bassetts and fellow Reading Terminal merchant Miller’s Twist and from non-merchants Franklin Fountain and Pure Gourmet, Georges Perrier’s new line of sorbets. There’s also ice cream eating contests, games, demonstrations, freebies, live music, and children’s crafts.
