Mihir M. Thacker, MD, is a Pediatric Orthopedic surgeon and Orthopedic Oncologist, who has been at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware, where he currently is the Division Chief of Limb Reconstruction and the Director of Orthopedic Research Scholars Program. He also serves as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Pediatrics at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Thacker completed his medical school training and Orthopedic residency in Mumbai, India before doing his fellowships in Pediatric Orthopedic surgery at National University Hospital in Singapore, NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital (formerly the Hospital for Joint Diseases at New York University) and Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware; also, in Musculoskeletal oncology at University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Thacker is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He provides the unique ability to perform complex hip reconstructions for hip preservation as well as hip replacement for adolescents and young adults with skeletal dysplasias and other pediatric disorders. He also specializes in Limb salvage surgery for bone and soft tissue tumors, and limb lengthening and correction of complex deformities.

Dr. Thacker has a passion for teaching and improving the care of children globally. He has served as the Chair of the Pediatric Orthopedic Committee for the International Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology (SICOT). Dr. Thacker is also highly engaged in teaching medical students, residents, fellows and international visiting observers; he has been a visiting professor both nationally and internationally and has received multiple awards. He is also an active member of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North American (POSNA), American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, European Paediatric Orthopedic Society, Musculoskeletal Tumor Society as well as several hip related specialty study groups including the International Perthes Study Group. He has published many research articles and book chapters and presented at numerous national and international conferences. Dr. Thacker provides care in Wilmington, Delaware.
