Dr. Muzere is double board-certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as Adult Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Although she has experience working with all ages, she specializes in working with children and adolescents and enjoys working with college-aged adults. Dr Muzere’s initial session consists of a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to determine the cause of emotional and behavioral challenges while assessing potential biological, social and psychological contributing factors. Through collaboration with the patient and family, a customized treatment plan is made incorporating evidence-based medication management and therapy. Dr Muzere also collaborates with therapists, schools and Pediatricians to optimize care of patients. She has experience working in multiple settings such as outpatient, partial hospitalization, inpatient and emergency rooms and is trained in treating mood disorders (such as depression, bipolar disorder) anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, eating disorders, autism, psychosis and disruptive behaviors.

What's your background, education and training?
Dr. Muzere received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where she majored in Biology. She attended medical school at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey (formerly University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/UMDNJ- School of Osteopathic Medicine). She thoroughly enjoyed her psychiatry rotation and decided to pursue a career in this specialty. After medical school she attended Morehouse School of Medicine/MSM in Atlanta, GA for Adult Psychiatry. She was actively involved in teaching medical students and received the Arnold P Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. She also enjoyed serving the community and used her APA/SAMHSA Minority Fellowship award to promote mental health awareness in the Atlanta community via educational activities at schools, malls and churches. Additional accolades include APA Resident Recognition Award and MSM Graduate Medical Education Resident of the Year. Following Residency, she attended The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to complete her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship. She enjoyed working in the inpatient setting and served as Inpatient Chief Resident. She was also a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/AACAP and was the recipient of a Systems of Care award in which she examined outpatient providers’ attitudes and competency in screening for substance use disorders.

If you have out-of-network reimbursement with your insurance plan, we will be happy to supply invoices for services rendered and bills paid, so that patients may submit for partial reimbursement to their insurance companies. Call for information. Patients may also use HSA accounts for our services.
