What's your background, education and training?

Dr. Jonathan Pontell attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he was inducted into the Hobart Amory Hare Medical Honor Society. Following graduation, Dr. Pontell attended the State University of New York – Health Science Center at Brooklyn, where he completed his residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. He went on to complete a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. During and after his fellowship training, Dr. Pontell traveled around the country to spend time with the top facial plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills, Manhattan, New Orleans, and Hawaii to perfect his techniques. Dr. Pontell served as the Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii, as well as a visiting surgeon to the Republic of the Marshall Islands and Walter Reed Army Medical Center. A former President and Treasurer of the Hawaii Society of Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Pontell also served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine, where he trained and educated medical students and surgical residents in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Pontell continues to contribute to the future of facial plastic surgery by sharing his expertise with other doctors from across the nation through presentations at a variety of medical conferences and symposia, and he has published articles in many medical journals and several medical textbook chapters. At his private practice, Dr. Pontell offers an extensive range of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures that can help patients enhance both function and aesthetics. In addition to treatments such as rhinoplasty and hair transplantation, facial rejuvenation options available at the practice include facelift surgery, eyelid surgery, neck lift, and many other surgical and non-surgical procedures.
