Report: Jason Peters Arrested
Eagles left tackle Jason Peters was arrested in Monroe, Louisiana early Wednesday morning for drag racing and resisting a police officer by flight, according to the USA Today.
Citing the arrest affidavit, the report states that a police officer spotted two cars that appeared to be racing around 4:45 a.m. and attempted to pull over both vehicles. While one driver obliged, Peters — who was driving a white Camaro, “accelerated to an extreme high rate of speed and exited U.S. 165 North and proceeded eastbound on Interstate 20…The Camaro exceeded speeds of 100 mph while the deputy was in pursuit. The Camaro then exited Interstate 20 and stopped in shopping center parking lot, police said.”
Peters cooperated from there. He was placed in handcuffs and transported to Ouachita Correctional Center, per the report.
The Eagles released the following statement: “We are aware of the reports that Jason Peters was arrested this morning in Louisiana. We have been in contact with Jason and due to the legal nature of this matter, we will not have any further comment at this point.”.
The 31-year-old Texas native was arrested in 2011 for loud music and disturbing the peace.
Peters missed a portion of the team’s OTAs this offseason. Team owner Jeffrey Lurie said at the time that Peters “has his own personal reasons that he can’t be here and I actually empathize with him.” No further details were given.
The Pro Bowl tackle was in attendance for last week’s mandatory minicamp.
